What is myKEMET and a Browser Cookie?

What is a myKEMET cookie?

A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on your web browser so it can later be read back from your browser. This is useful for having the browser remember specific information.

What does myKEMET use them for?

myKEMET uses two types of cookies: permanent and temporary. The permanent cookie is used to store your myKEMET member name. No password information is stored. This makes it easy when you return to myKEMET to be able to key just your password and have your member name already keyed for you. The temporary cookie is used for security reasons to allow us to know your current session while you are connected to myKEMET. When you logoff myKEMET or close your browser, this cookie is deleted. No password information is stored in this cookie.

Where can I find out more information about cookies?

More information about cookies can be found at Cookie Central. They have a page that will test your browser to make sure it supports cookies and you have them turned on. This page is here.
